While conservative on many social issues, I believe in saving the environment. I believe in eliminating government interference, but understand that only the federal government can tackle certain issues facing this nation. I believe social security as we know it is broken and in coming up with a reasonable solution to this nation's immigration problem. Do I have strong, unwavering religious views? Yes. Do I believe that those views should be forced upon everyone else? No. At the same time, I don't believe that my religious views should be infringed upon by other groups.
All of this explains my viewpoint, but I hope for this blog to be about others' views as much as my own. I searched online for other sites or blogs of a similar nature and found interesting results. One was a blog titled simply as "The Centrist" which seemed little more than a rehash of Fox news stories that very much stretch the definition of "Fair and Balanced" reporting. Nothing against the blog, but at least use an Ass in addition to the Elephant on your logo to demonstrate the illusion of balance! The other discovery was of a U.S. based party known as the Centrist Party. Unfortunately, being a party of the center their platform didn't really seem to stand for much of anything. George Washington despised political parties because he believed they only caused hatred and anger, but I think they can serve an important role. If you look at our current system you can see exactly what he was afraid of, but I still believe that they can be a force of good by creating a dialogue between individuals with different views and beliefs. It is exactly that kind of dialogue that I hope to foster here.
I understand this is quite a Spartan blog at this point, but I will be remedying that over the coming weeks and would be more than willing to discuss allowing you to post given you can abide such "radical" views as what I've stated above.
